VICTORIAN CARAVAN PARKS SHINE IN
NATIONAL REVIEW REPORT
Passion and commitment to excellence by Victorian caravan park operators and managers
has been recognised with Victoria recording the highest percentage of positive guest
reviews in Australia last year.
The best in nation result is detailed
in The Caravan Park Guest Review
Report 2025, launched by the
Caravan Industry Association of
Australia at its National Conference
in May.
Victoria emerged as the top
performer in the Global Review
Index
(GRI)
rankings
among
Australian states and territories in
2024, securing a score of 86.1%.
The report provides a detailed look
at guest sentiment and operational
performance across caravan parks
nationally by analysing more than
170,600 guest reviews.
Some of the results include:
• Outstanding Guest Satisfaction:
Victoria’s
exceptional
GRI
score of 86.1% demonstrates
an outstanding level of guest
satisfaction with location and
service receiving particularly
high praise at 92.3% and 91.5%
respectively.
• Guest
Demographics
and
Market Trends: While most
reviews came from Australian
guests, the increasing number
of reviews from international
guests, particularly from Western
Europe and Asia, points to a new
market opportunity for
the state. Capturing and
satisfying these emerging
markets will be addressed
at the CRPVic Conference
in Geelong in August.
• Continued Opportunities
for Value Enhancement:
While value was identified
as an area with room for
improvement compared
with other states, with a score
of 87.2%, this indicates there
is a great opportunity for
Victorian operators to further
align their offerings with guest
expectations.
• Engagement with Feedback:
Victorian operators were found
to engage with 54% of reviews –
an important metric that reflects
operator willingness to engage
customers.
• Review Platforms and Sources:
Victorian
parks
experienced
strong engagement on review
platforms. Booking.com captured
59% of the total review volume,
Google 27%, Expedia 6% and
Tripadvisor 4%. It’s clear where
guest perceptions are being
drawn from and where operators
need to focus engagement.
• Accreditation
Matters:
Accredited parks in Victoria
performed
notably
better
than
non-accredited
parks.
Not only do parks that have
completed the Caravan Holiday
Park
Accreditation
Program
receive more reviews, but
they also showed a higher rate
of responsiveness to guest
feedback (62% compared to
46%).
The association is proud of these
Victorian results – and you should
be too. We urge all members to read
the report to better understand the
metrics and consider ways to keep
improving your own guest reviews
and other feedback.

INDUSTRY INSIGHTS – JUNE 2025
40
The
Australian
caravan
and
camping industry continues to
demonstrate remarkable resilience
even as the global economy
continues to navigate uncertainty
marked by slower growth, costof-living pressures and fluctuating
consumer confidence.
On
a
regional
level,
cabin
occupancy rates indicate people
have embraced a Grampians
getaway in support of the region
following the summer fire, with
Western Grampians recording the
third highest cabin occupancy rate
(76%) nationally in May.
Recent caravan park performance
data for May underscores this
strength: caravan park occupancy
rates reached 55% for cabins, 42%
for powered sites, and 16% for
unpowered sites, all surpassing last
year’s figures.
Victorian
caravan
parks
also
recorded
increases
in
cabin,
powered site and non-powered
site occupancy rates for the second
quarter of 2025 compared to the
previous two years:
• Cabin occupancy was 61% (54%
last year) and ADR was $192
($169 last year).
• Powered site occupancy was
42% (31% last year) and ADR was
$59 ($52 last year)
• Unpowered site occupancy was
17% (9% last year) and ADR was
$52 ($46 last year).
The bigger picture is clear:
Australians are embracing the
comfort and value of local travel,
even as international holidays
become more accessible.
