RESIDENTIAL PARKS
ASSOCIATION APPEARS
BEFORE INQUIRY HEARING
Introducing Chris
Paranthoiene
Lifestyle Communities’ Chris
Paranthoiene
is
the
latest
industry representative to join
the Caravan & Residential Parks
Victoria Committee of Management, commencing his tenure
earlier this year.
Association president Sam Cohen joined members of the Legislative
Assembly Environment and Planning Committee on an Inquiry visit to a
residential park in Longwarry North.
This Legislative Assembly Environment and Planning Committee Inquiry is
looking at methods of building homes and the mix of housing forms and types
in regional Victoria.
General Manager, Residential Rod Hearn put a convincing case to the Inquiry
that both residential land lease communities and traditional Part 4 and Part 4A
residential parks had a significant role to play to meet the government’s 2051
housing supply targets in regional (and peri-urban) Victoria.
We argued that RLLC housing is quick to market, characterised by huge local
manufacturing capability and significant foreseeable demand.
Rod and association president Sam Cohen then joined committee members
the following day for a visit to a (non-member) 90 site traditional residential
park in Longwarry North.
The association was able to offer the committee an industry perspective on
the park’s contribution to housing supply and the obligations of operators to
look after residents’ interests, many of whom lived on benefits and would be
homeless if the park did not exist.
Chris is highly experienced in the
residential land lease sector, having
joined Lifestyle Communities in
2007 after working in finance
and completing a Bachelor of
Commerce at the University of
Melbourne.
As Executive General Manager –
Development and Acquisitions, his
role and responsibilities include
land acquisition, feasibility analysis,
planning and project delivery.
Chris said Lifestyle Communities
had benefitted from the support
and services of the association, and
with his own 18 years’ experience
in the land lease sector, he was
looking forward to making his own
contribution to the team.
“Regulations and legislative change
is a particular area of interest for me
and I look forward to representing
the association in this space.
“I’m also looking forward to learning
more about the tourism and caravan
park industry and hopefully visiting
some of Victoria’s great tourist
parks over the course of the year!”
Thanks Rod Hearn
Rod Hearn left the association early this month with our best wishes as he heads up
merchant bank Tetris Capital’s residential land lease division.
Rod did a wonderful job establishing our land lease community credentials with government
and member stakeholders in a short period, delivering the association’s formative policy
statement Accelerating Affordable Housing – The Residential Land Lease Solution. The
association is currently recruiting for Rod’s replacement.
